Last day of September. Where is this year going?

There's something that people may not realize about working from home. Sometimes, you just need to get out of the house. Don't get me wrong, I love this house. I love being with Ami 24/7. But sometimes, we've just got to get outside for a while.

Today at lunch we went down to the lake and ate. We didn't even get out of the car. We just pulled up and rolled the windows down. The wind was cool and refreshing coming off of the water and the sound of the waves gently lapping against the spillway almost made us go to sleep.

While we were down there we watched a rain cloud roll in and the rain travel across the lake toward us. I took a couple of pictures with my iPhone.

I also took some shots on film today. I can't wait to get this roll developed. If the pictures turn out well then I'll be happy to trust it for the Photowalk that's coming up in November!

This is something that makes me happy.

A good mug of shaving cream:

I had a very good shave! No irritation and baby's butt smooth.

It felt great outside today! I love fall!

We had the window blind up in the bedroom and it was like a siren song to kitties.

Trudy doesn't understand it really. She likes getting in the window only to pester the other cats.

Tonight we saw a welcome sight. Fall seems to finally be here!

Also, this is cool:

Today, Ken, Tia, and Dane came over so that Ami and Tia could work on a project. It happened to be Ken's birthday. Ami made him some banana pudding and I gave him a Marsh Brothers straight razor that was made in the mid 1800s.

Some pictures of Dane.

Today, I did a "Day in the Life Of" post for Photo365.

I got up and fed the cats, then watered the azaleas.

Then I put down water for the cats. We put ice blocks in it to keep it cool.

Black Kitty watched outside. It's her soap operas. You can see her secret boyfriend Bottlebrush out there under the table.

Then I took a shot that I'd been thinking about for weeks. I took it with both Yashicas, the Sony, and my iPhone. The first two are from my iPhone.

This is from the Sony. We'll have to wait to see how it turned out with the Yashicas.

I took the GSN to Kroger with us and took some pictures. I also took a shot with the old flash that came with my first GSN and it worked great! It's LOUD when the flash is charging but it's nice and bright. I need to get out and try the telephoto auxiliary lens and viewfinder for the GSN and see how it does. I don't have the wide angle lens so I'll be looking for one of those. I've also got two shots left on a roll of Kodak TMX 100 black and white in the LM then it's on to Kodak Ektar!

9/24/2010

Here are just some random shots I took today. I started another test roll for the GSN to make sure my light seals are good so we'll see!

Bea by the book case.

9/23/2010 - Yashica Electro 35 GSN Light Seal Replacement

I replaced the light seals in my GSN tonight and Ami and I took pictures.

I assembled my tools. The seals and bamboo tool came from Jon Goodman and was absolutely perfect. It even came with very easy to follow directions.

This seal didn't look too bad.

This seal wasn't so good either so I replaced it, too.

I wet the seals with some Windex.

Then I scraped and scraped.

I had to pull out the cloth seal with some tweezers.

Then I scraped out the glue.

After all the cleaning I put the new seals in.

And trimmed them to fit. It's really nice that the kit has them a little long. They're cut perfectly and you can tell Jon knows what he's doing.

You have to make sure you cut the top seal so that it fits around the film frame reset.

Tweezers help here, too.

Replacing the seals isn't hard, but it is a bit time consuming. These old cameras are worth it. I can't recommend Interslice enough for any light seal kit you might need. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, the seals are perfectly cut, and the kit is very affordable.

9/22/2010

We tried to get some pictures of the Harvest Moon tonight but really couldn't get a good shot of the horizon because of the trees. I did get some good sunset pics though.
