We are finally rid of the rooster! He's now at our friends Amber and Johnny's house waiting to be picked up in the morning to go to a farm where he'll be happy and can crow his little head off. He won't be chasing the neighborhood kids, ice cream trucks, or cats anymore. Not here anyway. We are not going to miss his INCESSANT crowing!

I had to suit up because we didn't know how this was going to go down.

Many thanks to Mr Rick for the use of a net to finally catch the rooster!

Happy birthday to my mother-in-law Mrs Alice! I couldn't ask for a better family to have married into.

My mom got a new food processor so she gave us her old (only 6 months) one! It's a KitchenAid so it's really nice. We really appreciate it. Now, Ami can make homemade hummus!

We went to Bass Pro Shops today with my mom and dad. I took some pictures with my iPhone of the massive fish they have in the aquarium in the middle of the store. Sorry about the quality, no polarizing filter for my iPhone's lens!

Every time I see that aquarium it makes me want to set up a huge aquarium and use local river fish but then I remember how hard that would be to upkeep and how much space it would take up and abandon the idea.

We went to Oglethorpe today for Ami's parents' birthday party. We had a really good time with family. On the way to their house we saw these train cars and thought that the graffiti was really striking so on the way back home stopped and I got a few shots of it. Some of these graffiti artists are really talented. Please forgive the quality of the shot, it was raining and it was taken with my iPhone.

I saw this shot that someone else took today and I thought I'd try to replicate it. This is the keyboard on my trusty laptop.

We went to the stores tonight on a provisions run. It feels like we only go to the store when absolutely necessary, and that's the way we like it! I got a good picture of the sky with my iPhone.

Sorry about not having an update yesterday. Some stuff got out of hand and I wasn't able to get a shot. I'll make it up at a later date.

We got a new strap for our dSLR. It's a Crumpler Industry Disgrace. It's a very nice strap that should be really comfortable, even with a heavy lens.

Ami and I went to the doctor today for checkups. It was a long day.

When we were coming back I took these down by the lake with my iPhone.

This is what has been the bane of my repair job.

I think I have a solution. I'm going to take a jumper wire and put it into the cut off wire and solder it on the other end that I can get to. Wish me luck.

Sleepy does some really cute stuff when she gets into the box we replaced the bag with. They had shredded the bag and I have to think it was out of spite.

No more pictures, please.

We had Nu-Way for lunch today. The Megaburger was great! I think they put slaw on it, which I loved. Here's one of their cups.

This is how it went down.

The ASA dial wasn't coming off without a fight. I had to heat it with a soldering iron to loosen it up.

This will be continued, most likely Saturday. While I was taking it apart a wire broke that went to the lens assembly so I'm going to have to take it apart further and solder it back together.

Maybe these pictures will help you if you're doing a "Pad of Death" replacement. If you are, please check out the guide at the Yashica Guy's page because it's what I was going by. Many thanks to The Yashica Guy and the fine folks over Rangefinder Forum for all of the great info there as well. Most of all, thanks to my beautiful and talented wife, Ami, for taking 99% of these pictures. I really appreciate her patience.

I did some kludging and got some pictures from what I thought were lost negatives. The film was old so it's not going to look great, but you can see an image in there. I also discovered that I'm going to be doing some major surgery on my new camera this weekend due to what's called the "Pad of Death". Well, it's a 30 year old camera, it's going to have its quirks.

Here are the pictures I sorta salvaged from the expired film.

The thing about expired film is you don't know what you're going to get, and I didn't get much! The camera's malfunctions added to the problems but after changing out this part it should be in good shape!
