I'm replacing the knobs and hinges in a room a day. Today was the master bedroom so that included the master bath and closet. All that's left is the cat room and hall closets. We WILL be rid of brass in this house!
I went out and took some bird pictures today. Brown Thrashers are hard to take pictures of. Carolina Chickadees are adorable and I still love Finches.
First up the thrasher, Georgia's state bird.
Notice the pine cone it just flung off to our left.
I love it when I'm taking pictures of a bird and it looks at me. I don't know why.
Looking at me again.
Puffed up.
I must have been making too much noise.
I love that I caught that finch flying up to the feeder in the background.
We've had a lot of robins around lately. They poop EVERYWHERE!
Picking up a stick and walking around with it.
And finally finches.

There's a picture my mom has of me playing with electrical spade connectors making them fly around pretending that they are Colonial Vipers from the original Battlestar Galactica. We never could find the toys so I just used my imagination.
I was looking at these big bulldog clips and my desk scissors and thought "why not an X-Wing?"

I took these with my iPhone and played with the color just a bit. I like the effect.
They kind of have that
Lomography type look to them that's all the rage now.

We picked up some gummy bears at the store last night so I made a makeshift background and took some pictures. I didn't like how most of them turned out but I thought this one was OK.
I call this shot "Gossip".

I saw these boxes tonight at Kroger. Either they are going for a retro look or the box hasn't changed in a long time.

Beatrice came into our lives on April 18th, 2006. She was part of a litter that one of our outside kitties, Not had. (I'll have to explain that name in another blog post) I planned to tame this litter and try to give them away to good homes. On that Tuesday something killed all of the kittens and the mama, Not, as far as I knew. Not showed back up about six months later. All that was left was a little baby that didn't look like the others. The others were all white with gray tips and stripes but this baby was white with gray tabby areas. She was a terrified little three week old kitten. I emailed Ami a picture of her and put her in a box with a sock I filled with rice and warmed up in the microwave.
We decided to name her a "people name" but didn't know what at first. We settled on Beatrice after Bea Arthur. She took to a litter box (I cut the back off of a cereal box and put a plastic liner in it) at three weeks old like it was something she'd been missing all of her life.
Black Kitty didn't like her at first. She would put her paw on top of Beatrice's head and hiss to let us know that she didn't like her but her mothering instincts kicked in and they became good friends with Black Kitty teaching her bad habits.
She grew up to be a beautiful cat with mental problems. She's still scarred by the early kittenhood trauma. She's odd about affection and only gives it when she wants to. She has places she deems safe and will be loving there. My office chair is one of those places. I think it's because that's one of the places that I fed her ba-bas (bottles).
She's terrified of thunderstorms and this morning when it was thundering she beat on the door and it sounded like a person beating on it. She was meowing the most mournful cry, like she was giving up on life. I let her out and she darted to the living room and hid under the red couch until it was over.
I took this of her today while she was sitting in the window, "watching outside".

We went down to Macon County to see Ami's grandmother, Maw, for her birthday which is Wednesday. She's having a lot of abdominal pain so please pray for her. Here is Maw, with Ami and her sister Ginger smiling as they talk.

Sleepy is so photogenic.
I love the reflection of her face in the glass.
I love the light in this one.

Here's a copy of Make: Electronics that I got as a review copy from a contest on Facebook with the Extech 381676 pen multimeter that I won from the Makezine blog's "Leave a Comment, Get Extech Loot" contest. I can't wait to get started on the projects in the book now that I have a good multimeter.

Last night we got a new drill. I researched the crap out of them to get a good one as I have been burned by drills before. We got a Makita BDF452HW. I didn't know at the time that the drill is the official drill of the Stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire.
It's an 18 volt
twin ion lithium ion
blaster drill with a lot of power. It came with two batteries, a charger that can charge a battery in 15 minutes (!), and a nice hard case. The hard case is in the traditional teal and white of Makita so I don't know why the drill is black and white (other than its use by Imperial forces).

We were at Home Depot tonight and saw the biggest drill battery we have ever seen. I took a picture for posterity.

Today was a busy day like all days lately. We're really busy with getting clients moved from one platform to another, supporting the field, and now we'll be troubleshooting audio that won't make it through speech recognition. I love to learn new things so the challenges with troubleshooting this audio should be interesting. I do a good bit of audio troubleshooting anyway but this will be a nice change. I get to learn more about our back end stuff where I now mostly deal with the customer facing systems.
Today's picture is of Sleepy "smeowing". She loves for us to open a window and let her smell the air coming in. Sometimes I think she misses being outside but I think that she really likes being inside more.

I love taking pictures of this garden angel we have out by the front porch. She's seen a lot of cat related damage but she's still really beautiful.

We had a little more snow time before it all melted so we got some more pictures.
Us out in front of the house.
Our roses were snowed in.
I thought the ice on the branch looked cool.
This is a panorama made from a bunch of pictures of the embankment in front of our house.
Ami wrote this on the car. It was really sweet.

We got snow today! We're supposed to get 2-4" which is wild for us. We've gotten snow two years in a row and that's really something for us.
Ami built (I helped a little) a snowgirl that we named Maude.
A shot of it actually snowing.
Ami took this one of me out in the snow.

We went to IKEA today and took LOTS of pictures. Here are some of them that I really liked.
Lunch was awesome as always. I was the only one that didn't get meatballs. I had stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies with a piece of garlic bread. The little green thing is a Princess cake, which was great. The drink was something Lingonberry.
We met up with Billy and he shopped with us for a bit and ate lunch with us. It was great to see him.
I took this picture of Ginger that I really liked how it turned out.
Mrs Alice peeking from around the flowers.
We got to see Ami's dream kitchen.
Ami was at her favorite place.
The day was a bit long so I'm tired. We got the kitties a crinkle tunnel so if you like my kitty pictures post you'll be happy.
